HBA fibre channel

It is possible that firmware level on certain HBA fibre channel adapters (mostly PCI on Intel or AMD-based servers) is updated by device driver. That means you may not be able to use it (i.e., you do not see disks that are attached assigned to the HBA) until you installed the OS and installed the correct version of the device driver. The tip here is: if you have two identical systems, and the HBA in one of the systems is working, you can swap the disks (assuming identical) from the working system into the non-working system, boot up, and then shut down. Booting up the OS actually will load the correct device driver therefore loads the firmware. Then you swap back the original hard drives and proceed further.
